5. Overview of the Facilities
(1) Transmission and modulation facilities

・ Figure 8 shows a system diagram of transmission and modulation facilities. As shown in the diagram, asynchronous TSs of broadcasting program are transmitted from segment broadcasting stations. The master of the DRP synchronizes them before adding pilot and TMCC (Transmission and Multiplexing Configuration Control) data to them and making them into connected transmission waves, which are then sent out to the transmission facility on IF signals.

・ In addition, replacing PSI (Program Specific Information) or SI (Service Information) is also enabled so as to allow broadcasting suspension and interruptions such as emergency signals and experimental signals. PSI contains important information to decode multiplexed voice and data. Meanwhile, SI contains EPG (Electronic Program Guide) and other data.

Individual broadcasting systems will be run with a synchronous operation on and after RE-MUX.
